helloFiber’s ambition was to roll out state of the art fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in underserved areas of the country and offer under the ‘helloFiber’ brand superfast broadband connectivity.

The company was established as a 50:50 Joint Venture between Liberty Global and InfraVia Capital Partners.

We made the investment in 2021 with a view to combining, in a phased approach, our investment capacity and leading expertise in digital infrastructure investments with Liberty Global’s extensive experience of the German market. Our conviction was that Germany was substantially underinvested and was lagging behind other European countries in terms of fiber deployment, and therefore offered an interesting investment opportunity.

In 2022, it was decided to stop the project and unwind the company due to a significant increase in construction costs and a combination of other macroeconomic factors.
